Teter Orthotics & Prosthetics Opens New Location in Marquette
TRAVERSE CITY, MI –Teter Orthotics and Prosthetics has expanded its state-of-the-art services by opening a new Marquette prosthetics location with two enthusiastic and compassionate professionals to serve the community.
As at the other Teter locations in Northern Michigan, the Marquette prosthetics team will provide services to patients by physician referral as well as to hospitals, extended care facilities, and clinics. Teter Orthotics and Prosthetics is pleased to introduce Michele Carlson and Lynn Vanwelsenaers to Marquette prosthetics clients and other healthcare professionals.
Michele became a Certified Pedorthist in 2009, specializing in training to assist those with conditions that affect the lower limbs with modified footwear and other devices. She earned her Orthotic Certification in 2011 and is happy to be serving those in this beautiful area near the shores of Lake Superior.
After starting her career in health services in 1989 in Phoenix, AZ, Michele returned to Northern, MI in 1995 to work as a mastectomy fitter and soft-good fitter for an orthotic and prosthetic company. A grandmother, Michele has a deep passion to work not just with adults, but also with pediatric clients and their families.
A Certified Prosthetist, Lynn brings years of experience to the Teter Marquette Prosthetics office. After earning her Bachelors of Science in Biology in 1990 from Michigan Technological University, Lynn graduated as a Prosthetic Technician in 1991 and a Prosthetic Practitioner in 1993. She then qualified as a Certified Prosthetist in 1995.
Lynn’s work experience includes eight years with the United States Coast Guard Reserve as a Health Service Technician as well as a Clinical Prosthetist in Port Huron, MI and later on the Upper Peninsula as Clinical Manager. She is the founder and director of Camp Yes I Can, which gives children with limb loss or limb difference a chance to find support from peers and the confidence to work hard to achieve their goals.
For more than 45 years, the Teter Orthotics and Prosthetics team of Certified Orthotists and Prosthetists, along with the well-trained technical support crew, has offered specialized care and quality service. As demand grew, offices were opened in Petoskey, Gaylord, Cadillac, Grayling, Manistee, Alpena, Big Rapids, Muskegon, and Ludington. There are currently more than 20 locations throughout Michigan.
